La Ramee Farmhouse is our home in Guernsey.

It is also our way to figure out living a more sustainable life as a household of 5.

Connection to nature has been woven into our lives forever. For Geoff, being brought up on the planes of Norfolk, whose parents loved gardening and countryside. For Sasha, spending endless summers as a child at the Russian Dacha near a forest, travelling to remote places and being an eco-activist in her 20s.

We fell in love with La Ramee long before we bought the house. It was the garden that really stole our heart. The seed of what it could become for us as a family were planted long before we actually started doing something with it.

It was not until Geoff went on several courses with the amazing Martin Crawford from The Agroforestry Trust in Devon and his subsequent immersion into permaculture with Aranya that we embarked on the first steps of creating a kitchen and forest garden paradise. This itself has been inspired by Geoff’s visits to the Russian forest and the foraging abundance that has been so prevalent in the culture and nature there.

Geoff’s passion crept on the rest of the family, inspired our thinking and united us around a deep common purpose.

La Ramee is a refuge for wildlife and plants - bugs, birds, bees, permaculture and West Ham fans are all welcome!

It is also a seed of possibility, a platform to experiment living a more sustainable life and a ray of hope about the power of small actions that we can all take in our daily lives.

Our vision is to have a sustainable world where all life prospers and the planet is regenerated.

Our mission is to live a more sustainable life as a household through reducing our carbon footprint, restoring the land, improving biodiversity, growing food and embedding a deep love and connection to land with our children.

The purpose of this website is to share this journey to inspire others, to learn ourselves and to become the best family we can be for our beautiful world.
